Introduction
Greetings! If you're here, then you're obviously a fan of Galacticraft. But, did you ever think of a Galacticraft roleplay? No? Well, that's okay, you can still join in the Official Galacticraft Roleplay!
If you don't know about roleplays, then check out the Wikipedia article for more information. Basically, you will cosplay as characters you apply for in a fictional setting. In other words, it's the Galacticraft mod, but stuffed into a thread. There are lots of roleplays spreaded across the internet.
Anyway, onto the main plot. On the Overworld, the only planet with organic life, there is a space administration agency called "International Space Travelling Agency", ISTA for short. It is founded by a person informally known as 'micdoodle8', and is located in a particularly large island in the middle of the Squiddy-Squiddy Ocean, hidden from the public.
Only a select few people are chosen to work in ISTA, by a message always sent by one of the ISTA agents disguised as a mailman. You are one of those lucky people, working at ISTA and exploring the outer layers, the final dimension, a place even the Legendary Steve himself is afraid of going to: Outer Space.
Rules
- No Godmodding, Meta-gaming and PowerPlaying. This makes the roleplay boring for others.
- If you're micdoodle8 and are applying to this roleplay, you can play as the 'micdoodle8' mentioned in the Introduction section.
- Normal Minecraft mechanics apply here; hunger, health and oxygen are all basic factors in this roleplay, alongside stamina, thrist and body mass. More information below.
- You may not use other sci-fi weapons from other mods, with the sole exception being the Power Fist from Modular PowerSuits. It, like everything else here, has an energy meter of 1000Js. Each plasma blast costs 50Js, and you can recharge it with batteries. Each one gives 250Js.
- Put "sideway planet" somewhere in your application, either Bio or Other sections.
- Rockets are not used in here. Instead, spaceships are, to be able to carry multiple players at the same time.
- For the love of god, do not land in Gas Giant planets. The closest you can get to doing that is to land in orbital space stations located in their outer atmosphere, and going to their moons. If enough people vote to being able to enter Gas Giants, I will remove this rule.
- You're not a Space god. Your character can(and most likely will) experience space motion sickness unless he has alterady been in space before.
- Remember this is a Galacticraft roleplay thread. While you can spend time at the Overworld, don't focus too much solely on the Overworld unless it is part of a major plot, such as needing to find an alien that has crash-landed at the Overworld and prevent it from causing too much chaos.
Dealing with Space troubles
Revelant: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Outer_space#Effect_on_human_bodiesSpace is not the best place to survive, that is a thing you must remember if you're going to space. No, it's not only oxygen you have to deal with, nor hunger. Your character will likely go through acute health hazards, and will experience fatigue, nausea, vomiting, as well as damage to the immune system and changes to the white blood cell count.
Over longer durations, symptoms include an increase in the risk of cancer, plus damage to the eyes, nervous system, lungs and the gastrointestinal tract. On a round-trip Mars mission lasting three years, nearly the entire body would be traversed by high energy nuclei, each of which can cause ionization damage to cells.
Fortunately, most such particles are significantly attenuated by the shielding provided by the aluminum walls of a spacecraft, and can be further diminished by water containers and other barriers. (Source: Wikipedia) No, this does not means your character can only stay out for so long before having to go back in, it means that he will need to stay within the safety of spacecraft every once and then to restabilize your body. You CAN stay out in the Mars surface for as long as you want, but stay TOO long, and your character will begin to feel sick.
Other than space sickness, your character will suffer from muscle atrophy. This means that, if your character doesn't practices some sort of exercise during his stay in space(not continuously exercising to increase muscles, just a simple exercise), his/her muscle mass will continously decrease, and his/her skeleton will deteriorate over time, becomming full with pores. This is extremely dangerous in planets like Mars, as your character may trip on the rocky surface of the red planet and easily break his/her bones(taken from my Science book). These effects quickly disappear if your character goes back to the Overworld, or a similar planet.
There is also the gravity issue. Don't think that, as your character cooks water, he/she will magically stay on the floor. He/She will need to be fastened to something. Gravity can change your life. This is why bases planted on planets have Gravity-switching devices, so you don't have to perform your cooking while flying. Space stations do not have this ability, though.
Don't forget about oxygen! By default, your Oxygen tank will last you 45 posts until you'll run out of oxygen. You may not carry backup oxygen tanks.
But don't forget that this is Galacticraft and not a space roleplay thread, so, like always, there will be space monsters spawning.
List of alien beings
Yes, that's right, this roleplay has aliens. Some will be hostile and kill you in sight, while others will try to get on your good side. They are all native to a planet or celestial body, so don't expect a Mars monster to appear at Venus.
If you want to roleplay as an alien, please say so, and I'll see if I will allow. But don't focus in only being aliens, because we will need humans, too!
Walker - Native to Moon, Mars and Oberon
Appearance: Like a Zombie, but looks gray instead of green.
Perks: Doesn't needs air to survive. Immune to weightlessness and cold.
Disadvantages: Weak, dies with sunlight, vulnerable to heat.
Bonesing - Native to Moon, Mars and Oberon
Appearance: Yellowish skeleton with decomposing bones full with pores and a Power Fist.
Perks: Power Fist grants more damage than a Bow, resistant to temperature(how logical), doesn't needs air to survive
Disadvantages: Prone to bones breaking, may occasionally produce a xylophone-like sound.
Crawler - Native to Mars and Oberon
Appearance: Reddish Spider, green eyes and arm stripes.
Perks: Ability to summon multiple sludgelings, can change it's weight to alter it's gravity, doesn't needs O2 to survive, regenerates health when in sludge
Disadvantages: Weak when in close quarters, needs an atmosphere to survive.
Stalker - Native to Mars, Venus and Oberon
Appearance: Reddish Creeper, green eyes and mouth
Perks: Has a double layer, so it can explode once and not die.
Disadvantages: Once it explodes a second time, it is dead.
Slimeling - Native to Mars
Appearance: Like the Slimelings in the actual game. May be Blue, Yellow, Red or Green.
Behavior: THe first peaceful alien found so far. They at first reside inside eggs of their coloration. Then they must be incubated until they hatch, where they can detect who incubated and took care of them and will hang out with said person. They are capable of carrying items if you give them a small chest.
Pyro - Native to Venus
Appearance: A living Fireball with eyes. How can fire live in outer space, anyway?
Perks: Similar to a Blaze, it can fire three small fireballs that will chase your character.
Disadvantages: Despite being firey, it is vulnerable to any cold attack. It may also randomly die out over time.
Cloudling - Native to Venus
Appearance: Think of this, but beige.
Perks: It can divide into four smaller versions of it to pester you. It can only be damaged by explosions.
Disadvantages: Like Pyros, it is vulnerable to cold attacks. It also may randomly disappear.
Sparky - Native to Venus
Appearance: A small, living blob of pure lava.
Behavior: The second peaceful alien spotted so far, it won't mind you and will flee if you attack it. Some say that Sparkies normally reside inside the Nether's Magma Cubes.
Cryo - Native to Oberon
Appearance: A Pyro, but blue and frosty.
Perks: It fires five 'cryoballs' that now are able to move around for a limited time before vanishing. They may also temporarily freeze you.
Disadvantages: Vulnerable to hot attacks.
Sealite - Native to Oberon
Apperance: An animal resembling a seal, but colored light blue instead. They are hostile.
Perks: They swim fast within Ceres' water-ice layer and are able to break some of the ice.
Disadvantages: Easily outsmarted, and they can't quite go to land.
Octopi - Native to Oberon
Appearance: A pink Squid with slightly bigger tentacles.
Behavior: The third peaceful alien. Just like Sealites, they live within Ceres' water-ice layer.
