Ignored? Probably not normal. But it probably takes time to go through everybody else's bugs/support issues, find/fix the problem, then get back to you and everyone else. On top of actually developing the mod itself. Patience is a virtue.

Well, he may want direct support so that he can fix his game more quickly. With a whole database of forum members, it may just be more help than waiting for a staff member to diagnose the bug, have Mitch fix it, and then have to wait for the next patch of GC.
Perhaps Micdoodle8 doesn't notice support threads as often as bug reports. Try submitting bug reports as support threads are generally used for "How do I..." types of issues as outlined here:
