First of all, apologies if this has been suggested. Did a search but found nothing.
I had this small idea just now when I crashed my lander on the moon and became stranded while waiting for rescue.
The mobs on the moon wear oxygen gear, well what if you could somehow get a little oxygen from them? It's just a fun little survival idea really.
Maybe a new item they drop 'damaged air tank'. When placed in the crafting area with your air tank it fills yours up a bit. These 'damaged air tanks' would't have much oxygen, would vary between drop. They could also continuously 'leak' all their air (leak rate variable), so the player couldn't stockpile heaps and it'll be a race to transfer the air into your tank before it runs out.
Hell, to make it a bit annoying you could make the damaged air tanks blowing around the place like a deflating balloon
