Alternate ways to get resources

It would be cool if you could use some sort of machine to refine certain things to get some of the harder to get materials. For example, beach sand is usually rich in silicon. Also, rocks are mostly made of silicon. Red sand is rich in iron. Maybe if you refine smooth stone, you can get 5 sand. 5sand makes 2 silicon. So 1 stone equals 2 silicon or 5 sand equals 2 silicon. That way it is still balanced and not too OP

This is a brilliant idea! Perhaps call it a "Stone Refinery" or something like that.

I dunno. I don't think that it should be called a stone refinery because it won't just refine stone. But I like the refinery part.

Ah, okay. I just said "Stone Refinery" because all of your examples were stone.

Yeah, I guess sand is technically stone. Also I was thinking last night, and I thought maybe it could somehow super-decay organic materials like meat or leaves into oil. Maybe coal would work ...
