I noticed a new item had made its way into the creative inventory, the laser turret, and the description requested bug reports to be sent to the developers, so I have made this thread in an attempt to help out.
The only striking issue I have noticed thus far in terms of bugs related to the laser turrets is that the polygonal model for the idle laser upscales significantly with distance. A screenshot of this effect has been attached, showing the apparent size of the beam polygons relative to a spherical base that is 31 blocks in diameter. The polygons gradually increase in size the longer the player remains at a certain distance away from the turrets, and appear to continue this behaviour indefinitely if allowed to. When the player approaches the turrets, the polygon models scale back down to their proper size.
The turrets themselves do not appear to have any technical issues from what I've seen, except for a surprisingly small detection radius, and for that I might suggest adding a craftable item to upgrade their range and/or damage output (which is also fairly low, all things considered). The concept of the turrets themselves as an anti-meteor defense system is an incredibly useful one, and I'm looking forward to seeing them finalized in the future.
P.S. - Perhaps this thread can be used collectively to report issues/suggestions regarding the turrets while they remain in the beta testing phase.
