GALACTICRAFT 3 RELEASE NOTES
============================

GC3 is for Minecraft 1.7.2 with Forge version 10.12.2.1147 or later.

This is a BETA release. There will be some bugs. There will be some
incompatibility with other mods.

This is not the final version of GC3. There will be even more things
added as time goes on, plus enhancements to what is already here.
For example, you'll have noticed there is no new mob in the
Asteroids dimension, for now...

So we recommend: don't make large builds in the Asteroids dimension
just yet, as you might be wanting to delete+regenerate that dimension
in a future updated version of GC3.


WHAT'S NEW IN GC3
=================

Asteroids Dimension:
- Asteroids floating in space with secrets to be discovered...
- Moving small asteroids
- New ores
- Awesome Tier 3 rocket to reach the asteroids dimension

Improvements to existing dimensions:
Space stations:
- Can now spin!
- Freefall motion for players and mobs
- Redesigned sun

Mars:
- Beautiful new sky
- Added sub-surface ice (but it's fairly rare)
- Desh Ore is easier to find

Moon:
- redesigned footprints

Redesigned Celestial Selection screen:
- Also used as a Galacticraft Map
- Planets now have a temperature
- Planets now have an atmospheric composition

New Thermal Padding extra armor:
- Will be needed on very cold or very hot planets
- Temperature indicator on the HUD

Improved Space Race competitive play:
- Design your own team flag for the Space Race

New Blocks:
Walkways
- build routes around your base with a space look
- Aluminum Wire and Oxygen Pipes can be attached to the underside of walkways

Spin Thrusters
- these are used to make "something" spin...
- right-click with a wrench to point the spin in the other direction

Arc Lamp
- a very bright lamp to light up those dark space dimensions
- directional - right-click with a wrench to change the direction
- has an effect on mobs...

New Machines:
Short-range Telepad
- teleport between nearby pads

Methane Synthesizer
- manufacture methane from coal (or carbon dioxide) + hydrogen
- can be made into rocket fuel

Gas Liquefier
- makes methane into rocket fuel you can use
- can also make liquid versions of other gases
- uses for the other gases will come in future...

Electric Arc Furnace
- a Tier 2 version of the Electric Furnace
- faster; and double production amount for all metal ingots

Energy Storage Cluster
- a Tier 2 version of the Energy Storage Module

New Items:
Grappling hook - to grab onto nearby asteroids
Canisters of various gases
Titanium tools - have an attractive quality
Titanium armor - extra protection from collision and fall damage

New Energy Systems:
Beam Emitters and Beam Receivers can transfer energy without wires
GC energy system re-worked and re-balanced
New energy unit: gJ - that's Galacticraft Joules not GigaJoules
Now with 2 tiers of energy (think of it as like 120V and 240V)
Tier 2 machines get a speed buff if powered with Tier 2 energy
Electric Ingot Compressor gets same speed buff as a Tier 2 machine

Compatibility:
Compatible with BuildCraft and IndustrialCraft2
[ BuildCraft 6.0.16 IC2 version 2.2.1.483-experimental ]
Energy readout in MJ or EU options - /gcenergyunits command
GC3 wiring respects IC2 voltage levels (LV, MV, HV, EV)
IC2 batteries can be used in Galacticraft machines, and vice versa

Improved rocket graphics:
Different exhausts for different rocket tiers
Lots of smoke prior to launch
Player model stays inside the rocket if you tilt it
No clipping of items held by a player in a rocket

Gameplay improvements:
Shift-click oxygen gear, oxygen tanks and other GC items into inventory slots
Shift-click works in all machines
Space dimensions - where you first land becomes a spawn point if you die
Space dimensions - the player can breathe when inside a rocket or lander
You cannot exit a rocket using 'Shift' after it has launched
You cannot exit a lander using 'Shift' until it has properly landed
Using Launch Controllers you can fly in a rocket between two pads in the same dim
Creative mode Galacticraft tabs reorganized into 2 tabs
All machines and Solar Panels are now 'Enabled' by default when first placed

Minor issues fixed:
Mars landing balloon stays properly where it landed
NASA workbench will not 'forget' schematics when the player dies
In NEI, the HUD (block identifier) should be completely accurate now
Pick-block (in Creative mode) should give the correct block for everything
Launch Controller settings work correctly
All machines have the same electrical input color (green)
/dimensiontp command with no player name teleports yourself
Some rendering issues with oxygen tanks fixed
Some rendering issues with Galacticraft fluids fixed
Multiblock structures - the 'invisible blocks' have hardness like the main block
Oxygen bubbles made by Oxygen Distributors are more stable
Various minor fixes to tooltips and item names
Slimelings and sludgelings now cannot drown
Space Station dimensions have the 'Space' biome type
Issues with Parachest GUI slots and 'Inventory' label position fixed
Parachests render as parachests in player inventory and in NEI

Translations:
Most text in Galacticraft is now translateable
Many languages updated - thanks to our dedicated translaters
Added: Thai translation

KNOWN ISSUES (will be fixed real soon)
============
Rockets are missing their sounds
You will not be able to get to other player's Space Stations without external teleport mods/plugins
Galacticraft item tooltips do not show in the Galacticraft blue 'rarity' color
Rotating Space Stations - blocks not connected to the space station will rotate too
Sealed IC2 cables and AE cable not craftable
If BuildCraft is loaded, Galacticraft wires may keep transmitting energy even if broken
BuildCraft Kinesis pipes can transmit power into all sides of Galacticraft machines
Footprints on the moon sometimes hang off the edge of the block they are on
Gas Liquefier accesses planet's atmosphere even inside a sealed space
Methane Synthesizer fills with free hydrogen, as we have no hydrogen maker yet
Water Electolyzer machine is not craftable and has no function currently


INSTALLATION NOTES
==================
GC3 needs Forge version 10.12.2.1147 for Minecraft 1.7.2. Make sure to use
the correct version of Forge. Get it here: http://files.minecraftforge.net/

After installing Forge and checking that the launcher launches with version
1147, you will need to put micdoodlecore, galacticraftcore and galacticraftplanets
in your /mods folder. Make sure to have the same version for each one.

Like all Minecraft 1.7.2 mods, the blocks and items in GC3 do not have fixed
ID numbers, instead each is given an ID when the world is created.
ID conflicts should be a thing of the past...


UPDATING MAPS FROM GC2 TO GC3
=============================
Updating existing maps from Minecraft 1.6.4 to 1.7.2 is normally possible,
so long as you have 1.7.2 versions of all the mods used.

IMPORTANT: if updating from 1.6.4 make sure to have played + saved the map
in Galacticraft version 2.0.12.1031 or later, before updating the map to
1.7.2. Best is to use the latest Galacticraft 1.6.4 version 2.0.14.1091
prior to update. Get it here: http://ci.micdoodle8.com/job/Galacticraft/1091/

Recommended steps for a Single Player update:

1) Make sure Forge and your modpack are installed in Minecraft 1.7.2
and working correctly - test that you can create a new world OK.

2) In Minecraft 1.7.2, start Single Player, load your old map

3) Forge will warn that it is a 1.6.4 map and ask if you want to proceed.
Click 'Yes'. Forge will make a backup of the old map in a .zip file.

4) Forge will warn about some items not being present and being
deleted from the world - ForgeMicroblocks items and maybe more. That
shouldn't affect any Galacticraft blocks or items. It might affect
other mods if you are updating other mods to 1.7.2 at the same time.

Tips for a successful update:

* If you had an Electric Furnace or an Energy Storage Module in your
1.6.4 map with items inside of it, those items will drop out of it
the first time it loads in 1.7.2. So empty your furnaces and energy
storage before updating the map.

* If you had nothing built on Mars, after the update we recommend
deleting the whole Mars dimension (DIM-29) and allowing it to regenerate
in GC3, so you get the benefit of the easier to find Desh Ore.

One question: Will you guys continue to work towards a 1.7.10 release?

As mic says: Since my code is already on 1.7.2 and I'm planning for a beta release this week, I'll just port to 1.7.10 after.

It's easier to just edit your last post and add whatever you want onto it, and saves the forum from spam :D But yeah, I'm glad your all as excited for the dev release as I am. I'm in the EST timezone, so I sadly have to go to sleep. Hopefully it will be up when I wake! :D

Is there gonna be an official server? My friend and I really wanna play this mod on multiplayer but neither of us know how to make a modded server.
