A couple of new places I've thought up to explore after Mercury through Neptune. Each place has its own resources and properties.
  • Space Station: Mainly a place for storage. Orbits the moon. About the size of a Village.
  • Titan: For ethane and methane, which forms in large ponds, which can be crafted into long-lasting Rocket Fuel. This means that standard Rocket Fuel would only be able to propel you to Titan, no further. Titan has Superheated Ember ore, which can be crafted along with lava and Launch Pads to prevent your spaceship from freezing on the outer-most planets. Titan is inhabited by Volatile Algae, which are neutral colonies of green-yellow Algae, when you are attacked by them, they poison you for 5 seconds. They have 5 hearts of health. They drop Algae particles when killed, which can be substituted for Spider Eye to make a potion of poison. Titan consists mainly of Titan surface, which is a brown-black rock slightly harder than overworld dirt. 14% gravity.
  • Europa: For crystallized ice, this ice has been refrozen over millions of years, meaning that you need a special drill to break through it. Underneath this ice lies water which, if entered without proper equipment, has the same effects on you as lava from the overworld does. Crystallized ice can be crafted into cryochambers, which can preserve food for long periods of time. (Any food not placed into a cryochamber will not last past Jupiter.) Crystallized Ice can also be crafted with a glass block to make Airlock Glass, which is a more resilient version of normal glass (as normal glass breaks on planets other than the overworld and the Moon). Europa has a few ores, iron spawns close to the surface buried in ice, redstone and aluminum can be found at the bottom of the ocean. Europe consists mainly of crystallized ice, which is a pinkish-blue ice which has the same properties as overworld obsidian (except it cannot be mined with a diamond pickaxe). At the bottom of the ocean is a scraggly mass of bedrock. 13% gravity. There are also mobs in the water, some hostile, some not.
    • Europian Squid: same as overworld squid, but white.
    • Europian Floater: Passive, intelligent creatures which spawn on the surface and live in ice caves. When right-clicked, they offer trades like overworld villagers, their main trade is 25 diamonds for a spaceship. They look identical to villages except they all wear pink-blue clothes to blend in with the ice. Their skin is a lighter brown than overworld villagers'. They also own small, enclosed farms which contain either trees or potatoes.
    • Europain Bristleback: Hostile fish which skate along the underside of the ice, trying to get any sunlight they can. They drop Bristleback hide (same as leather) and raw beef.
    • Europian Dweller: Neutral creatures which bounce along the bottom of the ocean, if attacked, they swarm like wolves in the overworld. When killed, they drop Dweller fuzz, which can be crafted into wool blocks or used as a substitute for gunpowder in TNT, as well as string.
    • Europian Kite: Passive creatures that look like large baby Ocelots with white fur, they can be tamed with iron, aluminum, titanium, or gold ingot, as this is their food source.
  • Make-make: For pulverized dust, this dust comes from meteors which have collided with Make-make over millions of years, this dust can be crafted into Lunar Fertilizer (which has the same effects as bonemeal), or Lunar Explosive (which is slightly more volatile and explosive than TNT, TNT cannot work in space because the fuse requires fire which cannot be light in space). Make-make also has charged flowers, which can be crafted into brown dye. It mainly consists of Make-make rock, a gray-red rock which can be mined with any pickaxe. Make-make is inhabited by an mysterious creature which can only be seen with the sensor goggles, these creatures fly and make sounds identical to ghasts but, even when viewed with sensor goggles, only their eyes and tentacles are visible, they drop 3-5 fire charges and rarely, 1 potion of invisibility. They have 20 hearts of health. 5% gravity.
  • 90377 Sedna: The furthest out you can get, you can no longer see the sun. Taking off any space equipment here results in instant death. Sedna is inhabited by two creatures, Sednan Crystals, and Sednan Broods. Sednan Crystals are passive creatures which drop titanium, iron, aluminum, and rarely, diamond. They jump around aimlessly and when hit, they run about the same speed as an Ocelot. Sednan Crystals have 40 hearts of health, so they are fairly difficult to kill. Sednan Crystals die instantly when exposed to light over level 10. Sednan Broods are small, hostile creatures about the size of overworld Silverfish, they have 10 hearts of health and deal no damage to you, they do however, attack your spaceship and damage your spacesuit. They, like Sednan Crystals, also die when exposed to light over level 10, because of this, it is recommended you bring plenty of light-emitting blocks. It is so cold out here that you must place your spaceship on heated launch pads, or else it will freeze, and will not be usable. It is recommended that you bring a spare Spaceship here in case. 33% gravity.
  • Comet: Past Sedna there is a comet which only appears once every Minecraft week. This comet contains ice, iron ore, stone, and aluminum ore. They are inhabited by Lunar Creepers, which are light blue versions of overworld creepers. Unlike creepers, they only have 15 hearts of health and only do half the explosion damage normal creepers do, however, they have a 5% chance of spawning supercharged. They drop gunpowder when killed. 2% gravity.

Changes to current planets
  • Moon: Now has mines, only spawn near villages and are identical to mineshafts with the exception that they are made of nether fence and aluminum blocks. There is also a secure building that spawns overtop of the mine, this building spawns with a single tree and an air-filtration system.
  • Jupiter: Jupiter has hostile Balloon Jellies which function the same as ghasts except that they make a more metallic sound. The "surface" of Jupiter is metallic hydrogen, which will instantly kill you if you touch it without a High-Pressure Heat Suit. Underneath this metallic hydrogen (which has the same properties as lava) is, naturally, bedrock. The metallic hydrogen is 80-100 layers deep. The metallic hydrogen can be collected with a bucket, however, once you leave Jupiter the hydrogen returns to gas form, leaving you with an empty bucket. Metallic hydrogen can be crafted with redstone to make Long-lasting Rocket Fuel. Metallic hydrogen is a gray-purple liquid. Upon arrival, the only solid block(s) on Jupiter is a small island made of a mangled space probe which sits on top of the metallic hydrogen. There may be numerous probes, but they are few and far between. The mangled space probe (which is built mainly from iron bars and stone slabs) can contain some of the following:
    1. An oxygen distributer
    2. An oxygen collector
    3. A block of iron
    4. A block of aluminum
    5. A block of titanium
    6. A chest filled with redstone items
    7. A dispenser filled with food or an iron pickaxe+shovel
    8. A chest with 5-7 leaf blocks and an apple
    9. A chest with one of the music discs and an empty star map (crafted with a map surrounded by redstone) (anyone get the reference?)
    10. A flag
Because of the nature of Jupiter's surface, you HAVE to watch out for your rescue chest, or else it will fall into the metallic hydrogen sea.
  • Mars: Sandstorms and Dust Devils now appear. Dust Devils are a purely cosmetic feature and can be seen roaming the Martian landscape. Sandstorms, however, can and will hurt you. Sandstorms have the same effects on you as suffocation does on the overworld. In addition to this, Sandstorms will uproot any plants, remove redstone, and has the same effect on mobs that a sword with knockback 1 does. The only way to protect yourself is to get inside a shelter. Sensor Glasses also have a large red flashing "WARNING" on the top when a Sandstorm is approaching. Being in a Sandstorm also causes blindness for 30 seconds.

In order to access the furthermost reaches of space, you must craft a Starship. Your voyage beyond the Solar System begins at Pluto, which shall serve as your gateway to the planets which lie beyond. (Launching the Starship from Pluto gives you access to many more planets on the Planet Select Screen.)

Starship Destinations
  • Gliese 163 c - A very Earth-like planet, but has new ores and the land generates like the Extreme Hills biomes with considerably more lava. The grass on Gliese 163 c is a brownish-white. The new ores found on Gliese 163 c are:
    • Vulcanized Sap ore - (produces Vulcanized Sap dust when mined. Ore is dark gold.) When crafted with a crafting table you get an Ionization Furnace, which, when powered with a redstone signal, can repair any tool as well as retain enchantments on said tools. Can also cook food at 1.5 times the speed of a normal furnace.
    • Shimmering ore - (Ore is bright silver. Produces shimmering ore block when mined, must be smelted into Shimmering Ingot. Can be crafted into tools and armour, slightly less durable than diamond, but receives a minor enchantment when crafted, as well as produces shimmering silver-ish armour and tools.
    • Blood Root ore - (Ore is dark green and brown, produces Blood Root when mined.) Can be crafted like TNT (replacing the sand) to create Combustible Root, which auto-ignites when places and causes 3 times the explosion that TNT does. Can also be crafted with wheat and Blaze Powder to create Hellfire Root Nibblet, (can be farmed). When a Hellfire Root Nibblet is eaten, it gives you 10 seconds of fire resistance and 5 seconds of strength. Must be planted near lava to grow. 110% gravity
  • Biomes -
    • High Mesas - A biome which consists primarily of sand with the occasional butte/mesa made of sandstone. Typically contain ores inside of them.
    • Promontory - An extreme-hills-esque area which is dominated by massive mountains made primarily of stone. Lava falls are fairly common here.
    • Stalklands - A flat land with numerous large dormant volcanoes. The leftover rubble from volcanic explosions has left the area fairly fertile, and Oxidized Weeping Stalk is very common here. Star Children Villages also spawn here.
    • Caldera - A biome which is actually a massive caldera, the biome is dominated by a large rock/grass wall. The insides of these calderas can contain valuable ores within them, as well as small lava pools.
Other resources found on Gliese 163 c are:
  • Oxidized Weeping Stalk, a light blue, wheat-like food that grows naturally in abundance on Gliese 163 c. When eaten, it fills up 3 hunger bars and 20 saturation.
Mobs -
  • Silverfish
  • Gliesien Star Children (they look like baby villagers but wear white and gold clothes.) They are very intelligent and will be drawn to your Starship if it is within range, if right-clicked on with a block of Overworld dirt, they will take it and give you a Gliesien Star Child spawn egg (as they have developed cloning technology) which you can use to spawn a Gliesien Star Child anywhere you like.
[*]Star Golem - Like Iron Golems but lights mobs it attacks on fire.
[*]Weeper - Look identical to an Oxidized Weeping Stalk but when harvested it attacks, it delivers an initial damage of 4 hitpoints (2 hearts) (when you're unarmoured) as well as poison for 5 seconds. Drops an Oxidized Weeping Stalk as well as (rarely) lapis lazuli.
[/LIST]
  • Nemesis - The endgame destination. Nemesis will put your survival skills to the ultimate test. Nemesis is a truly volatile place to be, with spouts of fire erupting all over the landscape and giant gashes in the ground filled to the brim with lava, Nemesis will turn you into a pile of ash faster than a twig in a bonfire. Nemesis is inhabited by the following:
    • Scorch Crags - Large, beetle-like insects which rapidly shoot fire charges at you.
    • Magma Worm - A worm-like creature that will slowly follow you around, they are not aggressive unless you run away from them. They will fire slowness potions at you and, once they come close, spawn a mass of fire around the player.
    • Magma Cubes
    • (rare) Blazes
  • Structures on Nemesis -
    • Fire Spouts - Blocks which occasionally shoot fire high into the sky.
    • Gashes - Ravine-like formations which always spawn with lava in them.
    • Sun Spots - Large pits which rarely spawn, these pits go straight to the void and have valuable resources surrounding the edge of them. Typically spawn with numerous blazes near them.
    • CME Arch - A very rare formation which spawns as a large incomplete arch made of fire and Nemesis Powder. These arches can span between 50 to 200 blocks and can reach all the way to the skybox.
    • Scourge Labyrinth - A large cave-system like formation which is home to the Scourge. These labyrinths have one very large room that contains the Scourge itself.
  • Ores on Nemesis
    • Afflicted Coal - The most common ore, spawns near the surface. Can be used as a more-efficient subsitute for coal. Looks identical to coal but with orange splotches in the ore.
    • Sulvanite - A semi-rare ore (same rarity as lapis) which can be crafted into armour. Automatically enchanted with Fire Protection 2 or 3 when crafted. Slightly less durable than diamond but offers a little bit more protection.
    • Kelvium - A very rare ore which spawns in layers 5-1, can be crafted into (same durability and strength as diamond) tools or, when crafted with a fire charge and a bucket, Kelvium deposit. When places, Kelvium deposit spawns a 5x5x2 pool of water, this is useful because water buckets do not work on Nemesis.
    • Pyreite - An ore which looks identical to diamond but, when mined, will turn into a lava source block. Pyreite can only be collected with a silk-touch pickaxe and then must be smelted to give your Pyreite Ingot. Pyreite ingots can be crafted into Pyreite Stay, which are boots which have the same protection as iron but allows the wearer to remain planted to the ground when the gravity is less than 100%. Pyreite ingots can also be crafted with blaze rods to make a Pyreite Scimitar, which are basically swords which deal the same damage as a sharpness2 diamond sword and has the bonus of lighting enemies on fire.
  • The Scourge - The Endgame boss of Galacticraft. The Scourge is a creature which looks like a red-tinted hostile wolf and is the same size as one. The Scourge has 1000 hit points (2000 hearts) and is capable of two-hit killing a diamond armoured player. The Scourge also lights the player on fire (and its attacks cancel out Fire resistance potions). When the Scourge is low on health, it will summon a Scorch Crag to fight for it while it regains health. Despite being a wolf-like creature, the Scourge is veryintelligent, and will even communicate with the player, saying things such as "I don't take to your intrusion lightly." and "Forgive me, but you the universe does not belong to you, you arrogant fool!". The Scourge's attacks also cancel out all potion effects active on the player. If the player has a sword in their hand, the Scourge will attack with ranged attacks, if the player has a bow in their hand, the Scourge will attack with melee attacks. When killed, the Scourge will drop enough experience points to raise the player from level 1 to 101, the Scourge will also drop 1 Star Dust.Star Dust can be crafted into the following:
    • Armour - More durable than diamond, automatically enchanted with Stellar Wind 1.
    • Tools - Axe, Pickaxe, Shovel. More durable and slightly faster than diamond.
    • Star Cutlass - Crafted with 2 blaze rods, and 2 Star Dusts. The Star Cutlass deals the same damage as a sharpness 10 diamond sword. Automatically enchanted with looting 1 and Corona Afflication 1 (40%)/Tidal Lock (60%).
    • Bowshock - Crafted with a bow and 1 stardust. Enchanted with Event Horizon 1.
  • Nemesis Enchants - These enchantments cannot be obtained with Enchanting tables, only from crafting. You can use an anvil to upgrade Stellar Wind, Tidal Lock, and Event Horizon by crafting two weapons enchanted with the same enchants.
    • Stellar Wind- When attacked by another mob, the mob is hit with a weakness potion and is knockbacked the same distance as a knockback 2 sword.
    • Corona Affliction - When a mob is attacked, the mob is struck by lightning and, very briefly, a ghost version of the Scourge will appear behind the attacked mob.
    • Tidal Lock - When a mob is attacked, the mob will receive slowness and, upon death, the Player who attacked it will receive 1 heart of health. An image of the Scourge's face will also briefly appear on screen.
    • Event Horizon - When a mob is hit with an arrow, the mob is brought towards the player. When the mob is brought towards the player, the player's melee attacks deal twice as much damage. The arrow still harms the mob.
  • Blocks of Nemesis -
    • Nemesis Powder - A red and white block with the same properties as sand.
    • Nemesis Crust - A blood-red block with the same properties as stone.
    • Scorch Rubble - An orange-gray block with the properties as gravel.
    • Tinder Bluff - A very hard, black-blue block which spawns on the ends of CME arches.
    • Scourge Masonry - A brown-red block which lines the corridors of the Sourge's labyrinth.
    • Headroom Stonework - A white-gray block which looks like Quartz columns. Spawns on the walls of the Scourge's room.

[continued]
  • Centauri Verhpi a - A relatively flat planet trapped in constant daylight because of the two suns around which it orbits. Verhpi a is almost completely in ruins because of the constant blast of sunlight it receives from the Centaurian star system. Verhpi a has no grass, as it has long been scorched away (though you can still find small oases, which are really small islands of dead grass). Most of Verhpi a is covered in barren stone and sand. Verhpi a has visible "oceans", which are simply massive empty depressions in the terrain which are full of sand, stone, and a little dirt. Surprisingly though, one life form has adapted to live to these harsh conditions, the humble silverfish. Silverfish from Verhpi a are not the same as overworld silverfish though, they have colonies made of cracked/normal stone brick, these colonies have been known to rise 70+ meters into the air. These colonies, which spawn fairly often, look like this:
    Termites%20exposed%20(72).jpg
    • On the inside of these colonies there can be valuable ores, ranging from 1 to 20 blocks of iron and upwards (depending on the size of the colony). The larger colonies often have many rooms which you can navigate the inside of, though these ones often have Silverfish spawners inside them.
    • Rarely, one can find a small 2x2 block opening in the ground, these openings drop into relatively large, circular rooms with a single tree inside them. These trees are called "Hording Trees". These trees are very short and have extremely tough, black bark, this bark is so tough it takes a diamond axe to cut it. The Hording tree bark can be used in a furnace and are able to smelt 64 items each. These trees can have between 1 and 3 fruits growing on the trunk of them, these dark gold fruits look like upside-down cocoa beans and drop a Hording Tree fruit. These fruit heal 4 hunger points, 10 saturation, and give the player resistance for 5 seconds. Hording Tree fruits can be crafted into 2 Hording Tree seedlings. Hording Tree leaves are gray-green in color and have a 20% chance of dropping a Hording Tree sapling. Hording Trees have two negative effects though, when their leaves are directly touched by the player, the receive Mining fatigue for 20 seconds and blindness for 5 seconds.
    • 100% gravity.
  • Tyche -A massive planet positioned deep within the Oort cloud, beyond Sedna. Tyche is covered in a thick black atmosphere and is extremely inhospitable to humans. The surface of Tyche is made primarily of obsidian, ice, and stone. Any water which is placed on the surface of Tyche freezes instantly. The oceans, rivers, etc of Tyche are filled with frozen hydrochloric acid, which has the same effetcs as lava on the player. Dotting the landcape are plumes of frozen carbon dioxide, these plumes suffocate the player when stood in. Underneath these plumes are pockets of lava. Tyche is home to 3 creatures:
    • Plume Gecko - A silverfish-like creature which only spawns near CO2 plumes. Drop 0-1 Gecko Spines when killed. Gecko Spines can be crafted into swords which deal more damage than diamond but have the same durability as gold. Always spawns in swarms of 5-10. Plume Geckos poison the player for 3 seconds when attacked.
    • Running Stone - A creature which looks like a stone, but when the player comes within 10 blocks of one it runs away at an extremely fast speed, meaning that the player must kill it with a bow. Running Stones are passive. Drop stone and rarely coal when killed. When not running away, they make quiet shuffling noises every couple of seconds. Running Stones will also be attracted to ore blocks of any type, this can be used to create traps which kill Running Stones. Because Running Stones use echolocation to see their surroundings, potions of invisibility will not fool them.
    • Mongler - A wolf-like creature which can be tamed with 1-5 Plume Gecko spines. Monglers have more health than wolves, but are much slower and less obedient. meaning that they will not sit when told to and will sometimes ignore the player when commanded to attack something. When attacked by a Mongler, the player recieves 10 seconds of Weakness. Monglers will attack Plume Geckos when still wild. Spawn in groups of 2-3. Do not drop anything when killed.
  • Biomes of Tyche:
    • Tychian Surface - Obsidian, ice, and stone with few rolling hills. No caves.
    • Spires - A flat landscape with massive spires shooting stories into the air. Covered in ice and stone. Underneath these spires are caves which extend into the deepest reaches of Tyche. Underneath layer 10 one can find massive crystals shoots which take a diamond pickaxe to mine. More information of these Crystal Shoots below.
    • CO2 Plumes - A land which is lower than all other biomes and has small hills which have CO2 Plumes shooting out of them.
    • Wasteland - Very flat land with numerous pools of frozen Hydrochloric acid. Covered in stone and obsidian.
  • Tyche Crystal Shoots - These massive, spear-like structures spawn deep within Tyche in the Spires biome. When mined with a diamond pickaxe, they drop Crystalline Rods which can be crafted into swords, axes, hoes, pickaxes, etc. They have twice the durability of diamond and deal 1.5 times the damage. Very rarely, a light blue Shoot will spawn. When mined, this shoot drops Soft Crystal rods, these rods can be crafted with a stick and sugar to give you 2 rock candies. Rock Candies heal 3 hunger points, 20 saturation, and grant the player 20 seconds of either Haste, Regeneration, or Jump Boost. Beware though, without a High Pressure Heat Suit, you will constantly take 2 hearts per second (below layer 10). These are what the Shoots look like:
hB993363C

Craftable Stuff

  • Pitchfork - crafted with 2 sticks, an iron ingot in the top-middle, and two steel ingots on the top-sides. Can be used to collect Oxidized Weeping Stalk and doubles the amount of wheat harvested from a wheat crop. 500 durability, same damage as an iron axe.
  • Potion of Conformity - Brew an awkward potion with a Gecko Spine. When drank the Player will be able to walk past any hostile mob without being noticed.
  • Potion of Haste - Brew an awkward potion with a Hording Tree fruit.
  • Solar Refractor - Crafted with 7 aluminum ingot surrounding 1 iron ingot and 1 heavy plating. The Solar Refractor harnesses light from the sun and, when night arrives, the Refractor will create a 80 block diameter circle of light (level 15) around where it is placed. It must be exposed directly to sunlight before night or else it won't work.

There should be random events like once a minecraft week a meteorite attacks the earth, and we can see where the meteorite hits earth with a telescope.

THESE ARE SO EPIC! Micdoodle8 should DEFINITELY add these. When the comet leave the solar system, you wouldn't be able to leave for a minecraft week, so there should be a timer. Oh, and one thing, oasis is singular, oases is multiple. Just saying.

I wonder if the asteroid belt betwixt the inner and outer planetary bodies might not be a better location for a "half way point" than Titan. Not to say that I don't think your take is a good one, I absolutely think that your proposal of requiring resources from Titan or similar should be essential for pushing further out.

Meaning you can get from "Earth" to the belt on rocket fuel. Then refuel at the belt for a push to Titan/whichever. Again from Titan/whichever back to the belt on rocket fuel.

But no further.

Just a thought. Possibly a poor one.

I do like your idea of demanding a certain level of infrastructure and exploration before the final worlds can be pushed upon. Personally I'd suggest an investment of resources from all of the inner worlds before pushing past the asteroid belt. That slow buildup and ultimate reward is the better part of the journey in Minecraft.

While it is true that the asteroid belt is commonly considered the "middle" of the Solar System, what resources would you logically find on an End-sized hunk of rock? Realistically, asteroids in the belt consist of rock and maybe iron, but not much else. Plus, Titan is much more hospitable when compared to an Asteroid. :3

In truth I modified my post halfway through, somewhat on the fly, let me see if I can restructure the concept into something which holds a little more water.

One launches into space. With the initial spaceship and default rocket fuel you have access to the inner solar system.

Ideally you would have incentive to visit the planets of the inner solar system to gain access to the resources you will need to build the tools and infrastructure required to push into the outer solar system. More sophisticated fuels/equipment to survive more hostile environments and so on.

The asteroid belt serving as a good place from which to launch from one "leg" of the journey and to the next made sense due to its hypothetical position and null gravity/just because. The moon would work just as well, to be fair. Or the moons of Mars. The goal is to provide incentive to visit the major landmarks of the solar system. It seemed the best reason to visit the asteroid belt. Beyond, I dunno. Mining asteroids. Which is cool.

Once you've managed to break through that barrier I would imagine that the outer solar system would provide everything you need to upgrade both your spaceship and your fuels. If only for the sake of technological flow.

I hope that helps clear up my train of thought.

Phaeton? We can bend the rules a little bit. Phaeton was a planet that was thought to have been destroyed and is what now makes up the asteroid belt. We all know this is false but that's not to say we can't insert a little dwarf planet in between Mars and Jupiter. Though it would have basic resources like oil, iron, coal, etc. Nothing more.

Well there are some fairly robust asteroids out there. Kleopatra and the like. But that's neither here nor there. Was just a passing thought that conjured itself when I read your altogether more comprehensive post.

The first thing I thought of when I was watching one of the review videos was limiting the range of travel. To go farther, you have go farther. We set Mars (or Titan, or wherever) as our limit when using Minecraftia materials. To proceed, there is a resource on that most distant planet that is necessary to travel to the next most distant planet. Rinse and repeat for as far out as we wish to go. This can also set up some kind of end game situation. I just imagine playing with friends and trying to do a space race haha.

Wait, maybe as you go enough out into space, you will start to find "invented planets", and maybe find a planet like Bobtonia, well, the names not important, and there would be a boss? Endgame boss or something.
