Just imagine being able to build the death star in Minecraft and be able to use it to destroy planets. That's what I want to be added.

Blowing up planets with a giant laser?
Let's break this down, shall we?
First of all lasers burn, leaving a dot at the things the beam comes in contact with. (or burn through them if you give the laser diode extra power)
Imagine having a normal laser pointer that you can buy form most stores, add some powerful batteries to the laser (taser batteries work well, and you might need a better laser diode) and you will feel more pain if you point it at your hand.
So if you get a giant laser into orbit that has enough power to destroy a planet it will burn through it, unless the planet is stuffed with explosives.

TL;DR version: lasers burn, not letting things go "BOOM"
Fun fact: you even can make a laser gun by getting a powerful laser diode rigged up with some taser batteries (4 is about 200,000 volts if i am correct) the trigger system is easy to obtain as you will only need a camera that you don't use anymore. (get the button and the system that sends an electric signal to the lens)

It's not necessarily a "property of lasers," it's more about the consequences of high energy density. If you fire a laser with enough energy at some matter, it could cause nuclear fission, which would liberate a huge amount of energy from the matter, causing an explosion. In inertial confinement reactors, they shoot lasers at a pellet of deuterium and tritium to create a miniature thermonuclear explosion.

Well, that's a way to do it. :p

There is literally a game out there called Planetary Annihilation with that feature.
Besides, the mod warp drive allows you to use lasers and make them powerful enough to blow up a whole village.

Yes, that is on the warp drive mod but if they can't add it then make an addon instead

Yea, but it would heat it up enough to sublimate the solids or even ionise them, resulting in an 'explosion' yet not like the one seen in star wars when the death star fires, more like a massive output of superheated gas. It could also force the gas to undergo fusion, making an explosion, but only if the gas had a lower Z number than iron
