This would fit better with more planets.
I was thinking what if there were other races on other planets that look like Steve (some of them) these people could be traded with and captures to study, if enough studying is done you can input your data into a special machine to breed soldiers with the stats of that race and enhance them later with more DNA you could put one of these soldiers into a cloner to assemble a army (the army feature is optional for coding reasons) sooner or later you can convert them into some data, destroying the soldier in the process, you can then input it into a machine and step into a glass chamber where it infuses its DNA and abilities into you.
Abilities:
The abilities gained by these soldiers and your self include breathing on that races gas needed to sustain life, strength, speed, resistances (max is 25%) and langauge abilities.
