Is the flag/info in the space race screen meant to save on server restarts?

I am running a dedicated server at home for my daughter and I to play on. If we make our flags it will wipe all the info when I close the server. This normal?

I am running mods, so this may be the cause? The list I have running in the server folder and the clients folders are as follows:

    GalacticraftCore-1.7-3.0.8.2573
    Galacticraft-Planets-1.7-3.0.8.257
    MicdoodleCore-1.7-3.0.8.257
    Oceancraft-1.4.1
    OptiFine_1.7.10_HD_U_B5
    TheErebus-0.2a
    twilightforest-1.7.10-2.3.2

Also. Love love love this mod. I play minecraft with galacticraft as the main game, and the other mods I run as the lesser, distraction mods :p I havnt even left earth yet too, just soaking it up still!

    Thanks

This is currently an issue on servers which we are looking at
    https://github.com/micdoodle8/Galacticraft/issues/957

I still have not figured out the exact cause of this problem. Flags save OK on a basic test server which I have set up. If you can offer any clues (from your server logs) then please do add any info which can help.

Also, as discussed on that issue report, please do try with the latest build (3.0.8.264) and with Enable debug messages set to true in the Galacticraft core.conf config on your server.

Thanks so much for looking into it. While it's not exactly an important bug for most, it frustrated my daughter to no end. She spends 15 minutes each log on to remake her flag, shes only 4 :p

I tried the latest build, 3.0.8.265, same problem. I enabled debug and here is my log (Please forgive the team names :/) :

    http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=00018709309554448467

The space race data appears to start loading at line 10001.

I notice that 11 teams are trying to load, that normal? As there has never been more than 3 people, myself/daughter/wife, on our server.

The first team to load 'Nazi Abos' is mine. However after I connect, you can see it wipe that team and set it as 'Unnamed Team'.

I then created my team again, called it 'A New Team'. I then disconnected from the server and rejoined to see if it still saved on client rec connection, which it did.

I then did 'save-all', and 'stop' on the server.

I booted up the server again, and repeated what I did above. Here is the log for that:

    http://s000.tinyupload.com/index.php?file_id=92122657894368472963

Hope this helps in any way at all.

Thank you that is helpful, it is the "unnaming" of an existing team which seems to be key to this.

Your 4 year old daughter must be one of our youngest players. :)

    Great, sounds promising!

And I was never into minecraft before deciding to show her the game, as I heard kids like it. And boy do they ever :S It was amazing seeing her coordination improve with the mouse/keyboard and the game in general too. All she wants to do now is play minecraft. It's, "After we put the babies to bed, can we play minecraft?". Or she'll just turn on the computer, start the server then launch the game. Someone described the game as 'kiddy crack' to me once, now I know why :p

Im away from home so decided to test out how its saving space race data with a fresh minecraft dedicated server install.

Logging 1 person in worked perfectly.

    1. Make a team, save and restart server, team info loads perfect.

Logged in another account (only 1 person on the server at a time as I'm using 1 laptop).

    1. Make a team, save and restart server, only the new team space race info is loaded.

Guess something with saving/loading multiple teams is screwy. It's weird that on my home server, as I mentioned earlier, there are about 11 space race teams being loaded when only 3 people play on it.

    Update on this issue.

It seems that once you make, have a flag set up, this issue fixes itself.

We finally made flags (hadnt made any previously), and placed them in our houses. I have rebooted the server multiple times, and our team flags havn't been wiped!

    Fantastic! Thanks :p

A few quick unrelated side questions. Forgive me if the info is out there, havnt really looked very hard.

    1. We finally blasted off and I created a space station. Are other people able to visit my space station , or do you have to be in the same space race team, or just not possible?
    2. What server setting do I have to allow people to use /joinrace (or whatever its called when u invite someone to your team). In our server it says to the person typing it "You don't have permission to use that command".
    3. The way your spaceship/launchpad comes arrives with you at your space station, is this a temporary placeholder? I'll be honest and was a little dissapointed it wasn't attached to my station like in the movies :p

I figure we'll get to mars in another few months with the rate we're going ;)

    1. http://wiki.micdoodle8.com/wiki/Commands#ssinvite

    2. Normally any player can use /joinrace. You must be using a server plugin (a Bukkit type plugin) which is blocking player commands unless players have the appropriate permission node. See here: http://wiki.micdoodle8.com/wiki/Commands#Permission_nodes

    3. We can't be responsible for the inaccuracies shown in movies :p

Free motion of spacecraft in space (not simply the launch sequence you see on planets) is not currently planned for Galacticraft for several reasons, the main ones being (a) it's too hard and we have other priorities right now (b) unless it's AI-controlled, it's not obvious how a player would pilot the ship and reach the correct destination, space being so vast and orbital mechanics being a somewhat complex specialism. There are existing discussions in the Suggestions area on these types of topic, it comes up a lot. Like any 'blue sky' ideas for Galacticraft, we do keep it under review and it's possible it will be in the mod one day, but there are no immediate plans for this.

Something I am looking at doing soon - next few days - is a 'Quick mode' config setting to double the production of compressed metals, and a few other things, basically to halve the raw material cost of Galacticraft to make things faster for players. (Not all players will want that - it depends a lot on the mix of other mods you have, if you have mods with automatic quarries or crazy mining tools or metal doubling, tripling or quadrupling (!) then raw material cost is probably not so much of an issue.)

Also there will possibly be a Recycler at some point, to allow you to recover raw materials from a Tier 1 rocket when you want to make a Tier 2 rocket.

Meanwhile to make things go faster, I recommend you build an Electric Arc Furnace (which doubles metal ingot production) and upgrade all your energy systems to Tier 2 (which will make the Electric Compressor(s) run faster too.)

Oh sorry I didn't explain what I meant properly. I didn't mean flying spaceships to the station.

I meant that instead of appearing on the station and ur chest parachuting down with you, you appear on your station and your ship is connected to the station already. So it looks likes you've 'docked' already and just enter it to leave again.

And I defiantly wasn't complaining about it being hard, I love it being difficult :p We just muck around so much that it takes ages to do anything. Looked into that furnace, looks sweet!

However I noticed you need meteors, and reading up on fallen meteorites it says they fall on any planet. I have not seen any at all on earth, is it all expect earth?

    Thanks.
